I just spent 5 days in Hell - the hospital where I was the lucky recipient of apendictitus.
On April 26th, 2009, at a party for my wife's cousin's firstborn, who just turned a year old, in a secluded room where my wife was nursing our son, I keeled over in severe pain, almost losing consciousness. My abdomen felt a pain unlike any pain I have ever felt there. My wife, scared for my life, asked if she needed to call 911, but I told her the pain was going away. A few hours later, on the advice of both my father in-law and my mother, I went to the hospital, where the pain intensified. I waited almost 7 hours in the emergency room before they declared to do anything about my apendix, which blood tests and a catscan confirmed was swollen. Two shots of morphine to soothe the pain eventually led to a reaction where I almost lost breathing and sight. Finally at 6 am the surgeon came and I went under the knife. Thus began the next 5 days of torture and hell for my recovery.
I won't use this post to detail the procedures I had to endure for my body to get back to normal, but let me say getting your appendix removed is serious business, especially for a body part that I found out has no explained use. But I did watch a lot of Fox news that week because quite frankly I do not trust CNN, MSNBC, or any other media outlet since they are so far up Obama's tail that they have become state propoganda. Fox News, while I am glad hasn't kneeled before King Barack, is still guilty of some of the most sensational media reporting I have seen, which did not help my own health and well being. Some of the top stories for this past week was Chrysler's bankruptcy, the government dictating college football playoff system (yes, it's getting BAD here in the U.S when our left wing government is telling the NCAA HOW to run its own playoff system,) more on the Carrie Prejean controversy, the president's first 100 days and more softball questions by the New York Nazi Times. But the story that has gotten out of control is this new H1N1 flu, also known as the swine flu. This disease supposedly originated out of Mexico, and through a mixture of illigal immigration and tourists traveling from different parts of the world, the flu has gone widespread, stretching out to Spain, Israel, Canada, and a new US State every day.
When our president was asked about how he would deal with it, he gave the usual ambiguous answer, but he was quick to say he would NOT close our border with Mexico. Of course not, that would make TOO much sense. Sure, it won't stop our already pending cases in the states, but it's an effective quarantine that will keep illegals from doing their part to spread the disease further, but that is beneath Obama. Our government has called it one level shy of a pandemic, meaning it is a worldwide threat. Vice President Joe Biden gave a stupid answer when asked how he would deal with it, and the only thing that saved his mug was that Paris Hilton gave an even dumber answer. As I lay in the hospital bed with a cathater one day and tube down my nose into the air pipes in my throat the next, I saw the fear that gripped the world. Egypt decreed the slaughter of over 30,000 pigs to contain the virus, even though the pigs themselves are not the direct causes of the spread of the virus. Fox News gave statistics that they had not delve further into, but it was a statistic that opened my eyes and made me realize that this swine flu scare was pure fabrication.
According to stats provided by the National Center for Health Statistics, in 2003 an average of 19.2 per 100,000 American women died of the flu. The NVSR stated that 63,729 die per year, 5,310 per month, 1,225 per week, 174 per day, 7 per hour. That's just the regular common flu we are talking here. Here is this new swine flu and it has yet to reach the mortality status of the regular flu that we take for granted! It truly shows the power of the media and how it can breed fear on unsuspecting Americans. It's like with the AIDS virus. We have spent so many hundreds of millions of dollars trying to find a cure for AIDS, yet we cannot deal with a simple common cold. Of course if we did it God's way, the Bible way, it would cost us zilch.
When I was discharged from the hospital, I was not in fear of the swine flu. I had my own health problems to deal with and a detour to rectify. The swine flu is in God's hands and I never felt more confortable with the Lord then when I left the hospital, thanking my Heavenly Father that I was not instilled with the spirit of fear that has gripped our world. Jesus' words sank deeply when He told the apostles in Matthew 6:34, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Reading the previous passages, it is clear God is your provider. He will deliver His people from any swine flu or epidemic or pandemic the media wants to frighten you with. For now, take care of your own health. Your family depends on you.
God Bless.
